Manual install (developers & early users)

A

Download the folder

Grab the extension/ folder from the project and unzip it anywhere.

B

Open chrome://extensions, toggle Developer mode, click Load unpacked.

C

Pin & go

Pin Get The Vid to the toolbar, open any video post, and click the icon.

Permissions, plainly stated

The extension asks for the minimum it needs: downloads (to save files), storage (your backend setting), activeTab + scripting (to list videos on the open page), and access to video sites plus Get The Vid itself. It reads video addresses and page URLs only, sends them to the Get The Vid service to fetch your file, and shows zero ads — stores reject monetized extensions, so ours stays clean by design.

Extension FAQ

Is it really free?

Yes — free, no account, no ads inside the extension.

Which browsers work?

Chrome, Edge and other Chromium browsers today; Firefox follows.

Why does it need my page URL?

Many players hide direct files, so the backend resolves the page URL into MP4/MP3 for you — same as pasting the link manually.
