The fine print, in plain language.
Short version: we don't want your data, only download what you're allowed to keep, and if you own something we helped fetch, tell us and we'll act. Note: replace the placeholder contact email below with your own before launch.
Privacy Policy
What we collect: almost nothing. Pasted links are processed to fetch your file and are not stored. No accounts, no tracking profiles. Settings (like an optional API key) live only in your browser's local storage.
Logs. The server keeps minimal operational logs (timestamps, request types, error messages) to fight abuse and debug outages. Request logs never include full video URLs or file contents.
Third parties. Video data comes directly from the platforms you link to (X, TikTok, Instagram, Facebook, YouTube), subject to their privacy policies. If advertising is enabled, ad vendors may set cookies — see the cookie banner: declining keeps the tool fully working.
Your rights. Since we store nothing about you server-side, there is nothing to export or delete. Contact us with any question.
Terms of Service
1. Acceptable use. Only download media you own, that is free to reuse, or that you have permission to save. You are responsible for complying with each platform's Terms and applicable copyright law.
2. No storage. Files are fetched and streamed to you; the service does not host a library of content.
3. Fair use & limits. Automated bulk downloading, reselling access, or hammering the service (rate limits apply) may get an IP restricted. The service is provided “as is”, without warranties.
4. Changes. Features, limits and these terms may change; continued use means acceptance.
Copyright & DMCA Takedowns
Get The Vid does not store user content, but if you believe the service is used to infringe your copyright, email a notice to dmca@getthevid.com containing:
1) identification of the copyrighted work; 2) the infringing URL(s) on this service or the source link(s); 3) your contact details; 4) a good-faith statement; 5) a perjury statement of accuracy/authority; 6) your physical or electronic signature.
Valid notices are reviewed promptly; repeat-infringer access is terminated. Counter-notices follow the same channel.
